New Expanded Citation Categories

Michael Buckbee

When we first launched domain classification, we grouped citation sources into five broad categories: News, Social, Reference, E-commerce, and Other. That was a good start, but “Other” was doing a lot of heavy lifting. We’ve now expanded to 20 specific categories that give you much clearer insight into where AI models find their information.

AI-Powered Classification

New domains are now automatically classified using AI. When a citation appears from a domain we haven’t seen before, we analyze it and assign the most appropriate category. This means your reports stay organized without any manual work.

Check your Citation Reports to see the new categories in action. The expanded classification applies to all your historical data, so you’ll immediately see a clearer picture of your citation profile.
