All Countries

In addition to the featured countries above, Knowatoa supports all countries recognized by the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 standard. You can select any country when configuring your account, sites, or questions.

How Locales Work

A locale combines a language and a country to determine how AI search queries are contextualized. For example:

  • en-US — English, United States
  • fr-CA — French, Canada
  • pt-BR — Portuguese, Brazil

When Knowatoa sends questions to AI search engines, the locale helps ensure results reflect the geographic and linguistic context that matters to your audience.

Sub-Country Targeting

For more precise geographic targeting, you can also specify:

  • Region — a state, province, or administrative area (e.g., “California”, “Ontario”)
  • City — a specific city (e.g., “Seattle”, “Toronto”)

These optional fields let you monitor how AI search engines respond to location-specific queries.

Setting a Default Locale

You can set default country and language at three levels:

  1. Account — applies to all new sites. Go to Account Settings to change.
  2. Site — applies to all new questions for that site. Edit the site to change.
  3. Question — set when creating a question. Cannot be changed after creation.
